Wreathed Hornbill

The wreathed hornbill…a familiar face that showed up unexpectedly on an unfamiliar island when we least expected it ♡

Sometimes I do have great memories of Pangkor island.  Some memories of my time on the island are not so great but that’s another story for another day.  One of the most special moments was seeing this bird fly at a place where it’s not known to be residing.  All hornbills are beautiful and this is no different.  Malaysia is blessed to have 10 species of this amazing bird.

The wreathed hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus), also known as the bar-pouched wreathed hornbill, is a species of hornbill found in forests from far north-eastern India and Bhutan, east and south through mainland Southeast Asia and the Greater Sundas, except Sulawesi.
